Reverse Double Beef Burger

Preparation: 40 min

Prepare the bacon as per your preference, on a frying pan over medium-high heat or in the broiler. Set them aside. Add the ground beef, 2 medium eggs, salt, and pepper to a large bowl. Use your hands to squeeze and combine all the ingredients together. Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts.

Use your hands, or a burger press, to form 4 burger patties, approx ¾-inch thickness. Place on a tray and transfer to the fridge for 20 minutes to chill and firm up. This will help to retain their shape when cooked.

Brush each of the patties with melted butter or ghee to prevent sticking (optional). Heat a griddle pan or non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat and cook for 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties over. These patties can also be cooked on a griddle plate or BBQ.

Place a thin slice of cheese on top of each and cook for a further 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is just starting to melt. Timings will vary depending on patty thickness, so do adjust according to your preference.

Transfer the beef patties to a dish to rest. In the frying pan, fry the remaining 2 eggs sunny side up. Grease the edges of a cookie-cutter and crack the egg in it for a neater burger-sized filling (optional).

Assemble the reverse double beef burger however you like. We recommend stacking the beef patty with the cheese facing up, top with bacon, fried egg, and the beef patty with the cheese facing down. Equally, serve one patty as an open burger and stack with you toppings of choice. Enjoy!
